Glades Christian Church - Ministry Teams

You may not know it, but it is a fact that God has given gifts to each of us. The apostle Paul wrote in chapter twelve of his letter to the Romans , ". ..in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us..." The Bible encourages us over and over to use whatever gift, talent or ability God has given to us to serve and honor Him. That is the purpose behind the ministry teams. It is hoped that everyone who is a part of Glades Christian Church will find within these ministry teams a way to put his or her gift to work.

God's will and plan for the church is for all of us to serve Him in some way. Remember the words of the Apostle Peter, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. "

BENEVOLENCE

This ministry develops and maintains a procedure for meeting the physical needs of people—members and non-members alike—who are in an immediate dire situation. They assess the need and, if possible, try to determine the legitimacy of the need. This ministry operates under the principles of Matthew 25, "Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these.. .you have done it unto me."

DISCIPLESHIP

This ministry is responsible for planning, administering and/or coordinating all education, training and discipling programs of Glades Christian Church. The purpose of this ministry is to help the members of Glades Christian Church to grow spiritually and mature in their faith. All curricula is Bible based and doctrinally sound, and approved by the elders or those persons whom the elders have appointed to oversee such matters.

EVANGELISM

The evangelism ministry is charged with seeing that the Great
Commission—taking the Gospel to the unsaved with the purpose of seeing souls saved and discipled—is carried out by Glades Christian Church in the best and most effective ways possible. To that end, the training and recruiting of members for this purpose is the greatest priority of this ministry and the church.

FELLOWSHIP

This ministry oversees the planning and execution of all matters relating to the fellowship life of GCC. This includes activities that occur at the church property and those that take place off-premises. Any and all fellowship meals, gatherings and events fall under their care. All scheduling of such events are coordinated by this ministry. Menus and activities that have unusual needs and requirements are submitted to this ministry.

HEALTH & FITNESS

The purpose of the Health & Fitness Ministry is to educate believers about the responsibility we all have to be good stewards of our physical bodies. The apostle Paul wrote in I Corinthians 6:19-20, “¹⁹Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; ²⁰you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” (NIV) The Health & Fitness Ministry team offers many services including blood pressure screenings, occasional first aid and CPR classes and they schedule special speakers for Sunday evenings to inform us about topics related to good health and fitness.

MISSIONS

This ministry concerns itself with the task of carrying out the Great Commission beyond our local community. Some of the functions include assessing needs of current missions and missionaries, planning ways for members of Glades Christian Church to be involved with missions, keeping the missionary outreach of the church constantly in front of the congregation and making recommendations to the church regarding missions we may wish to support.

PRAYER

All members are encouraged to develop a healthy and active prayer life. The prayer ministry, however, is comprised of those members who wish to give of their time and energy in a special way to maintain an intense prayer front in the spiritual battle we face as a congregation. Prayer is the main focus of this ministry team.

PROPERTY

This ministry oversees the proper and necessary maintenance, care and repair of the physical property owned or used by Glades Christian Church in carrying out its ministries. This includes land, buildings, equipment, furnishings and vehicles.

STEWARDSHIP

The Stewardship Ministry is charged with seeing that the congregation maintains a healthy stewardship life. It also keeps the congregation informed of the financial status of GCC—that is, the trends of offerings and expenditures. This ministry tracks and gives frequent reports to the church regarding balances of all funds and accounts. It also encourages the congregation in areas of stewardship and giving.

YOUTH

The Youth Ministry Team is responsible for shepherding and nurturing the youth in a Christian environment. This ministry team coordinates with the youth minister in planning and staffing youth activities, such as camps, outings, concerts, conventions and retreats. They insure that all sponsors receive periodic training and that all adult-child interactions sanctioned by Glades Christian Church occur within the boundaries of proper Christian conduct. In the absence of a youth minister, the youth ministry team will do its best to fulfill these functions.

DRAMA

A drama ministry is being started at GCC. It's open to anyone who has an interest in Christian drama. We need actors, set builders, costumers, and tech crew members.
