God’s Word: Danger, Handle with Care

Bible Text: 2 Timothy 2:15 | Preacher: Rick Fulton | Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 (CSB)

Spiritual Warfare Is Hazardous

We Wield Great Power

3 For although we live in the flesh, we do not wage war according to the flesh, 4 since the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments 5 and every proud thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (CSB)

With Great Power, Etc…

Be diligent to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:15 (CSB)

The Enemy Knows the Danger Posed by God’s Word

“It Is Written”

He answered, “It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Matthew 4:4 (CSB)

Jesus told him, “It is also written: Do not test the Lord your God.”

Matthew 4:7 (CSB)

Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.”

Matthew 4:10 (CSB)

And He’s Not Afraid to Twist It for His Purposes

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, had him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: He will give his angels orders concerning you, and they will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”

Matthew 4:5-6 (CSB)

How to Avoid Danger

Don’t Think too Highly of Yourself

1 Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “we all have knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. 2 If anyone thinks he knows anything, he does not yet know it as he ought to know it.

1 Corinthians 8:1-2 (CSB)

Don’t Be a Loner

Iron sharpens iron, and one person sharpens another.

Proverbs 27:17 (CSB)

Learn and Teach

1 You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, commit to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Colossians 2:1-2 (CSB)
